We have to apologize. To all of you. Because we did not care about this blog for a while.
But to be honest, we got quiet busy with “real” life.. ah what shall I tell you, you know that.
But the real reason for this blog entry today is a sad one: Jan, our CTO, decided to leave getsGlobal.net.
It was a long journey Jan and me had together, we met 2009 and starting with first vague discussions about getsGlobal, we kept planing and developing and planing…. and also programming. Jan started with the database and the surroundings, he developed the TOP5 list filter and we had first tests on the recommendations filter. I cannot count the hours we sat together discussing, planning, rejecting, dreaming and fighting about the concept, the design and thousands and thousands of details.
Last week we were discussing the final details about the alpha phase, the design, developed and defined the “personal location page” – but then, a few days later, when I was at the airport to fly to London, I got a call and Jan told me that he will leave getsGlobal.
It surely was a shock for me to lose my CTO – with all the trouble we had with each other, he is a friend and will be a friend and I hope he will find a solution for the things bothering him in his life. I am sure he can.
However— losing Jan gives me the unpleasant task to find a new programmer for getsGlobal, next to the webdseigner I anyhow started to look for. Jan hopefully will summerize what he has done so far and mail me so the new CTO can start building further on what we already have.
So, anyone interested in supporting me to build getsGlobal, become a partner in this great (even I say myself) project what surely will bring us fun, lot of work and many sleepless nights?

Looking forward hearing from you!

It is not that I did not think about that topic before. And maybe one day I will make an overview of the different versions we produced – and I am not sure that the one I will present you now will be the final version. I am not very good in designing but I [...]

I was about to make a new design for the start page of getsGlobal.net and while doing so… well I drifted away a bit. Mainly because I went though the web to look for interesting design ideas I can learn from. See what others do, how they present themself, learn from mistakes and in the [...]

When more or less only 2 people work on a project and both have a (more than) fulltime job next to the project, it is natually that sometimes things need more time then expected. In fact a lot more. I remember that we once had the vague idea to start a first draw of getsGlobal.net [...]
